First floor, take a left and you may find me here writing underneath the pink clouds. Welcome to my office: The Bryant Park Public Library.
Secured by Patience and Fortitude, you can find this impressive building in the heart of Midtown between the financial skyscrapers. Fun fact: only a few books are displayed because most of them are stacked underground. ‘Underground’ like ‘underneath the park surrounding the library’. Meaning: if you’re wandering down Bryant Park, you’re actually walking on miles and miles of bookshelves…ain’t that a fun fact ; -)
The dramatic and magical atmosphere is pretty nice to absorb. Walk around, see the people and my advice: take the tour. A volunteer – probably an elderly lady who won’t obtain you from any possible detail – will guide you around and maybe the best about this tour: it is totally free!! Now that’s quite a rare thing on Manhattan, you must always turn to good account.
THE PUBLIC LIBRARY BRYANT PARK
A library with a magical atmosphere and a popular spot for movies&series (Carrie was left at the aisle by mr. Big) Take the tour and learn more about this place and its Patience & Fortitude.
Tuesday through Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. on Sunday (library is closed on Sundays in the summer)
Maybe it’s best to visit when it’s cold outside or if you’re craving for air-conditioning during a summer sweaty day. Note: if you’re a freelancer… work underneath the clouds. I can assure you, it is a great place to call your workspot for a day.
