A SHEARLING STORY FROM PARIS

my great-grand aunt stepped out of the countryside and stepped into Paris. She was the most extraordinary woman, leading an enormous company, not afraid to dig in the dirt and boss around within the world of farmer men not used to women like my aunt. She was one tough cookie and you might expect her to be as rough on the outside as on the inside. But, she wasn’t. She was the most elegant woman, an artist, painting beautiful pieces of art, even taught art in her free time. And, besides an impressive art collection, she owned one absolute gorgeous wardrobe. A wardrobe which included this never-getting-out-of-style coat she bought in Paris and I inherited it from her.

Whenever I wear this shearling, I see her wandering through Paris and please don’t think I’m crazy, but at those moments she and her power feminism relives and I feel it running through my veins. Especially on moments of “what-the-hell-am-i-doing-here” (yes believe me, even in NY you’ll question why the hell you left your home country and life) I pull out this coat and it gives me just a little bit of that ginger-baby-posh-spice-girl power everyone who started life in pink rompers need. (ps; totally aware of the cheesiness of this paragraph.But. It. Is. The.Truth)

ABOUT THE LOOK

This shearling coat is one of the most valuable pieces I possess and I honestly think this is where one should invest in. You have to spend a little, but a shearling is everlasting, never gets out of style and even gets more awesome the older it gets!

The cross rings are from Rue Gembon, an online brand that’s absolutely on the list of coolest accessory labels and where you should be to get those fingers stacked with awesomeness. I met the owners on a #getstacked event in Soho and ever since, Rue Gembon is my favorite. Btw, also very good to find the perfect holiday prezzies.

And, besides pulling out one of the oldest pieces, I also grabbed one of the coldest and made it work around zero celsius degrees. Uh-hu, talking about the crop top, a summer piece that can definitely be something to wear in winter. Just put it over an oversized white shirt and boom: a creative sophisticated look is born. Have a great day!
